The distribution of food packs, aimed at easing the end-of-year and New Year celebrations, took place simultaneously in key local government areas, including Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe, Epe, Somolu, and Ikorodu.

Speaking at the distribution exercise held at his Constituency Office in Ikorodu, Senator Abiru emphasized the importance of showing compassion and solidarity with constituents, especially the vulnerable, during challenging times.

“This event is a reflection of our shared values and commitment to uplifting many of our people who are going through tough times at this very challenging period,” Senator Abiru stated. “In alignment with my mantra of Greater Good to the Larger Number, we are ensuring, as our custom is, that no one is left behind during this festive season.”

The food packs, distributed equitably, impacted various demographics, including Christians and Muslims under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the League of Imams and Alfas, youths, students, women, artisans, party leaders, and persons living with disabilities.

Senator Abiru highlighted the inclusive and transparent process behind the selection.

“These equitable, fair, and inclusive processes were followed to give a sense of belonging to all segments of our society, thereby deepening harmony and respect that bind us together as one community,” he explained.

The senator, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, reiterated the importance of supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He noted that the government’s bold economic reforms, such as fuel subsidy removal and tax realignments, require collective understanding and patience.

“This gesture is also in support of the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, from all elected public officials to provide succour and comfort for our people, particularly the vulnerable members of society who are largely impacted by the fallouts of these economic reforms,” Abiru stated. “Together, we must rally behind the President to restore our nation to the path of sustainable growth and development.”

The event was attended by prominent political and religious leaders, including the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, and Senator Anthony Adefuye.

Commending Senator Abiru’s leadership, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi said, “Senator Abiru has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership. His commitment to touching lives at the grassroots is commendable and serves as a model for elected officials.”

Similarly, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye praised Abiru’s people-centered approach. “Senator Abiru has made the APC proud with his support for the vulnerable. These interventions are timely and impactful, and I encourage other leaders to emulate his efforts,” he stated.

Religious leaders present also expressed gratitude for the senator’s gesture. Sheikh Seifudeen Ademoritan Olowooribi, Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, remarked, “This act of kindness resonates with the teachings of love and generosity. We pray that God continues to bless Senator Abiru and his family.”

Reverend Ojo Joshua, Chairman of CAN, Lagos East Senatorial District, added, “Senator Abiru’s compassion towards all faiths and communities is a testament to his inclusive leadership. This support comes at a critical time for many families.”

Other dignitaries at the event included Dr. Muyideen Jokomba, Lagos APC Youth Leader; Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA; Alhaji Shehu Usman Sampam, Chairman of Mile 12 International Market; and Arc. Taiwo Kara, APC Chairman, Ikorodu Division, among others.

The event was met with gratitude from beneficiaries, many of whom shared their appreciation for the timely intervention. Mrs. Olubunmi Adeyemi, a beneficiary from Ikorodu, said, “This food pack means so much to my family at this time. Senator Abiru has shown that he truly cares about the people he represents.”
