EKO HOT BLOG reports that Paris Saint-Germain defender, Sergio Ramos, has taken responsibility for the team’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League. The Spanish defender admitted that PSG lacked the quality needed to compete at the top level of European football.
PSG were knocked out of the competition in the last-16 stage by Bayern Munich, following a 2-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena. The French club had lost the first leg 1-0 at the Parc des Princes three weeks earlier.

In a tweet after the match, Ramos expressed his disappointment in the team’s performance, saying they were not at the level required by the competition. He acknowledged that they failed to handle the key details and missed their main objective.
Ramos, who joined PSG on a free transfer from Real Madrid last 2 summers, called the defeat painful but said that champions are reborn from defeat and forged in adversity. He also promised that the team would come back stronger in future competitions.
The 35-year-old defender missed the first leg of the match due to injury but played the full 90 minutes in the second leg. Despite his presence, PSG struggled to contain Bayern’s attacking prowess and failed to create clear-cut chances on the night.
PSG have now been eliminated from the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the second consecutive season. The French club will now shift their focus to the domestic league, where they are currently second in Ligue 1, four points behind leaders Lille.
“Deeply disappointed in you and in us. We were not at the level required by #UCL. We didn’t know how to handle the key details and we miss the main objective. It’s painful, but champions are reborn from defeat and forged in adversity. We’ll be back!” Ramos said on Twitter.
