“I am deeply committed to uplifting the welfare of our people in Epe division, especially during these challenging times. The Poverty Alleviation Program aims to provide essential support to individuals across various wards, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility,” the veteran politician said.
He emphasized the ongoing nature of the programme, extending its impact beyond a single event, as part of the broader initiatives and foundations he oversees.
“This Poverty Alleviation Programme is a testament to our commitment to the well-being of our community. We initiated this effort months ago, and it is just the beginning; we plan to sustain it for years to come,” Chief Seriki-Bamu stated.
He appreciated the leaders and ward chairmen present for their cooperation and support to ensure the success of the initiative,
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated leaders and ward chairmen present, whose collaborative efforts make initiatives like these possible. Together, we can build a stronger, more developed Epe community,” the APC leader said.
During the event, the Bamu Palliative Exercise coordinator, Hon. Tunde Ogunkoya, along with APC head chairman in Epe local government, Hon. Toyin Gbadamosi, and other leaders, distributed cash gifts of N5,000 to over 45 beneficiaries from various wards in Epe Division.
Hon. Ogunkoya revealed the exercise’s significance, saying that, “This marks the third occurrence in three months. Alhaji Seriki-Bamu initiated this effort to alleviate the increasing levels of poverty and challenges within the community.
“Baba has been impactful not only through palliatives but also in various other areas. This initiative will continue monthly to benefit the majority of less privileged individuals.”
He detailed the meticulous process of the initiative, saying efforts were made to prevent ghost beneficiaries.
“We channel this through the ward chairmen, ensuring a thorough check and vetting process to prevent inclusion of false or ghost beneficiaries,” the coordinator said.
Ogunkoya concluded by advising beneficiaries to manage their welfare packages wisely, assuring them, “This is just the beginning, with more to come.”
Speaking with reporters, Hon. Gbadamosi explained the motivation behind Chief Seriki-Bamu’s initiative.
“This marks the third edition of Chief Shakiru Akanni Seriki-Bamu’s ward empowerment. He initiated this upon recognizing the challenges faced by members of his community. The ‘Bamu Palliative Foundation’ specifically addresses the needs of vulnerable and less privileged individuals beyond political affiliations,” he said.
The APC chairman expressed gratitude to Chief Seriki-Bamu, stating that, “We appreciate our father for this initiative. Its continuation will significantly improve Epe, creating a lasting impact. Today’s beneficiaries will also pay it forward, impacting others within their families.”
