Seven-Up At Risk Of Lagos Govt Clampdown, Commissioner Warns
-
Commissioner blows hot, says the government will not condone act of impunity.
Soft Drinks Manufacturer, Seven-up Bottling Company (SBC) Limited could be severely penalized in coming days if the company does not curb its activities that constitute “environment and traffic nuisance”, according to Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello.

Bello complained that sequel to warning SBC in the past for blocking drainage with litters and causing difficulties in accessing the Governor’s office, the company recently used its trucks to instigate gridlock.
In his words, “trucks of the company created environmental and traffic nuisance for over an hour on Thursday, denying movement to motorists across all the sections” at its Ikeja Plant, Oregun.
“The worst part of this is that officials of the company occasionally remove the median provided by the State to regulate traffic movement, thus causing accidents to unsuspecting members of the public”, the Commissioner added.
Commissioner Bello reiterated the government’s commitment to the safety of the citizens, stressing that the state will not condone any act of impunity from any quarters.
It was gathered that the State Task Force on Special Offences and the Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) was directed to impound trucks that block the main road in a bid to enter the 7-Up Bottling plant.
