#SexForGrade: UNIBEN Prof. Defends Lecturer, Says, Lecturers Are Humans
Just a day after the BBC’s hour long documentary exposed some lecturers sexually harassing female students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria and Ghana, a Professor from University of Benin, Okwechime Emmanuel, has criticized those condemning the lecturers.
In an interview with Nigeria Info, Prof. Emmanuel noted that Nigerians were looking at sexual harassment from one angle.
He said ” first and foremost, the ancient hyping of sexual corruption is just want of broadcaster’s and people not being serious. Sexual harassment is being seen from one angle.”
The professor alleged that some female students also sexually harassed lecturers, adding that, some female students want ‘Sexually Transmitted Degree’ (STD).
“It is not possible that even the lecturers are been harassed by girls by the way they dress?
“Eventually, you see girls who are half nude come to class, who want to obtain what we call STD (Sexually Transmitted Degree), they want to get their degree through sexual intercourse,” the professor said.
Prof. Emmanuel also stressed that lecturer are human beings and as such could fall victim of those who carryout underground test to probe lecturers.
He said “the idea of some BC’s (broadcasters) going underground to probe or put lecturers to test, lecturers are human beings. Society is corrupt, lecturers are not saints.”
“Let us not get the impression that lecturers are sexually lipid or whatever. Let it be known that in any organization where you have adult male and adult female, there is natural attraction,” the Professor added.
