An own goal by Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann in the opening minutes secured the Blades’ victory, extending their unbeaten run in the league.

Bachmann quickly went from villain to hero by saving a penalty from Kieffer Moore just 15 minutes into the match after Ollie Arblaster was fouled in the box.
Watford came closest to equalizing when Ryan Andrews’ second-half strike hit the post, but they ultimately suffered their first defeat of the season.
Sheffield United began the game on the front foot, with Callum O’Hare’s dribble into the box resulting in a deflected shot that bounced off Bachmann and trickled over the line.
The Blades had an opportunity to extend their lead 10 minutes later when Yasser Larouci fouled Arblaster, but Bachmann saved Moore’s penalty with a low dive to his left.
There was controversy just before halftime when Chris Wilder’s side felt they were denied a second penalty after Moussa Sissoko appeared to trip O’Hare, but the referee waved play on.
In the second half, Andrews’ shot from distance struck the post, while former Sheffield United player Daniel Jebbison made his Watford debut as the visitors pushed for an equalizer.
Moore missed the best chance to secure the win for Sheffield United in the closing stages, with Bachmann again denying him in a one-on-one situation.
The match ended with a tense atmosphere at Bramall Lane, but the Blades held on to claim their first home league win since December 2023.
