The attacks, described as an atrocious massacre, have resulted in the loss of numerous lives and the destruction of several communities.
According to Solomon Marren, a member of the House of Representatives, the death toll has risen to an alarming number, with at least two hundred people killed in the past three days alone.
Marren further disclosed that 17 communities in Mangu LGA have been completely ravaged by the violence, emphasizing that the perpetrators responsible for these heinous acts are reportedly not from the affected communities.
Taking to his verified Twitter account on Thursday, Shehu Sani expressed his anguish over the situation and condemned the ongoing killings.
He stated that the tragic events unfolding in the Plateau communities were not the result of a mere community clash but rather an appalling and deliberate massacre. Sani also questioned the whereabouts of the government and security agencies in the face of such horrific incidents.
In his tweet, Sani wrote, “I have seen the video clips of the mass killings in Plateau State, North-central Nigeria. This is not a clash but an atrocious massacre. It’s horrible and despicable. One can only ask, where is the Government & security agencies when all these happened?”
The escalating violence in Plateau State has sparked widespread concerns among the populace, as innocent lives continue to be lost and communities left in ruins. Calls for immediate action to address the security challenges and provide protection for vulnerable citizens have grown louder, as the need for the government and security agencies to swiftly intervene becomes paramount.
The exact motives behind the attacks and the identity of the assailants remain unclear at this time.
However, it is imperative that a comprehensive investigation be launched to identify and apprehend those responsible, ensuring that they face the full force of the law.
Additionally, measures must be taken to prevent further loss of lives and to restore peace and stability to the affected communities in Plateau State.
