EKO HOT BLOG learned that El-Rufai had shared a post by Farooq Kperogi, a US-based Nigerian journalism professor, on his X handle. Kperogi accused Tinubu of running Nigeria with a “Lagos mindset,” claiming the President stacked key economic positions with individuals from the South-West, similar to how former President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly filled security roles with northerners during his administration.

In his post, El-Rufai commented, “Two wrongs don’t make a right,” emphasizing the importance of inclusive governance over exclusion.
Reacting to El-Rufai’s remarks, Sani, also on his X handle, accused the former governor of hypocrisy. He wrote: “There were people who were silent when Buhari was filling political offices with his kinsmen and have now found their voice to speak out when the equation doesn’t favour them.”
Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, further criticized El-Rufai, referencing alleged marginalization of Southern Kaduna under his administration. “Let’s not make reference to the nepotism that marginalised Southern Kaduna for eight years. Kaduna was an apartheid state for eight years,” he said.
Sani concluded by stating that while anyone is free to critique Tinubu’s appointments, El-Rufai is not in a position to do so given his own alleged record of lopsided governance.
