Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Nigeria to represent the country at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in the United States.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima’s Senior Special Adviser on Media and Communication.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the statement highlights that Vice President Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the UNGA session.
In addition to his speech, Shettima is scheduled to participate in key meetings on the sidelines of the event and engage in bilateral discussions with other world leaders.
President Tinubu, who directed the Vice President to lead the Nigerian delegation, remains focused on addressing urgent domestic challenges, particularly the recent devastating flood disasters that have affected several parts of the country.
The high-level General Debate at the UNGA, themed “Leaving no one behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations,” will run from September 24 to September 28, 2024.
Vice President Shettima’s participation in this global forum underscores Nigeria’s commitment to addressing both international and domestic issues of critical importance.
