The newly appointed Assistant Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Ibadan, Oyo State, Akin Olowokere, died on Monday morning after collapsing during a training session.
Olowokere, a former Sunshine Stars of Akure player and later coach, was only recently unveiled as part of the Oluyole Warriors’ new technical crew following the exit of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching team.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that eyewitnesses at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, said the soft-spoken coach slumped in the middle of training drills and was immediately rushed to the hospital. “He was confirmed dead at the hospital where he was taken,” a source told Punch.
Reports indicate that Olowokere was actively participating in the session when he suddenly collapsed, prompting urgent medical attention before being transported to an undisclosed hospital.
Before joining 3SC, Olowokere had been a notable figure at Sunshine Stars, spending several years as a player before transitioning into coaching. He also served as an assistant to former Sunshine Stars head coach Edith Agoye, earning widespread respect for his humility, commitment, and tactical knowledge.

His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian football community, with many players, fans, and colleagues expressing disbelief at the loss of a man seen as a rising figure in domestic football coaching.
As of the time of this report, Shooting Stars have yet to issue an official statement on the cause of death, though tributes are pouring in from across the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
