Eko Hot Blog reports that Suraj Oyewale, better known as Sir Jarus, a social media influencer and real estate investor, is under investigation by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).
The agency disclosed that it is opening an investigation into claims of domestic violence in a statement on Friday.
In multiple social media posts on Friday morning, Jarus admitted that he beat up his wife after she caused him to “overreact a couple of times”.
He is a resident of Lagos State.
Reacting to the admission, the Lagos DSVA said it has involved the Gender Desk Department of the Commissioner of Police to ensure the beginning of a probe.
The anti-domestic violence agency, which noted that domestic violence in any form is unacceptable, said it takes the matter against Jarus seriously.
“Our attention has been drawn to a tweet made by @SirJarus,” the Lagos DSVA wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“As the Statutory Agency in Lagos State dedicated to preventing and responding to domestic and sexual violence, we take this very seriously.
“Domestic violence in any form is unacceptable, and the Lagos State Government maintains a zero-tolerance stance against it.
“We have, as an Agency escalated this issue to the Commissioner of Police (Gender Desk Department) to ensure that investigation commences.
“We appreciate everyone who tagged us and brought this to our attention.
“We remain accessible 24/7 via our toll free line at 08000-333-333.”
In a now-deleted post, Jarus said had been in his best behaviour before his wife provoked him, writing that, “A dog that was destined for doom will not hear the whistle of hunter.”
“She frustrated me to overreact a couple of times, which led to beating,” he added in the lengthy post.
In another post, he wrote, “Yes, I can beat her the day (sic) she was on my neck in the midnight that I must beat her so she can use it against me.”
Meanwhile, Jarus has doubled down on his violent conduct, asking his critics to do their worst.
