Six Suspects Freed in Ibadan Children’s Carnival Stampede Case
- Six suspects arrested in connection with a stampede at a children’s carnival in Ibadan have been released.

The Oyo State Police Command has freed six of the eight suspects detained following the tragic stampede at the children’s carnival held at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan. The event took place on December 18, 2024 as reported by Ekohotblog.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, initially announced the arrest of eight individuals linked to the incident. Among those detained were Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile Ife, as well as the school principal, Fasasi Abdulahi, and several others.
On Monday night, six suspects were released from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Iyaganku, Ibadan. The individuals freed include Olowola Oluwa Tosin, Genesis Christopher, Tanimowo Moruf, Anisoloja Olabode, Idowu Ibrahim, and Abiola Oluwatimileyin.
According to a source, “Six of those arrested have been released. However, the school principal and the remaining suspects are still in custody. We saw the moment the others were freed.”
The investigation continues as the authorities determine the roles of those still being held in connection with the stampede.
