EKO HOT BLOG reports that the strike occurred around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by residents. Malam Yahya, a resident of Silame, explained that the villages are near Surame Forest, known as a hideout for bandits and the Lakurawa group.

Witness accounts suggest that over ten villagers were killed, with several others sustaining injuries of varying severity. The chairman of Silame LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, confirmed the incident, describing the affected villagers as innocent, peaceful residents.

“The villagers were sitting peacefully when the bombs started dropping on the communities. They were innocent and peace-loving people with no criminal record,” Daftarana stated. He noted that it was too early to confirm the exact number of casualties, as assessments of the damage are ongoing.

Despite the gravity of the incident, the Sokoto State Police Command has yet to release an official statement.
