EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigerian Army, led by the General Officer Commander 8 Division, Maj. Gen. Godwin Mutkut, has handed over to the Sokoto State government 51 rescued kidnapped victims.
The GOC, represented by the Garrison Commander 8th Division Garrison, Brig. Gen. Alexandra Tawasimi, handed over the victims to Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
The governor directed that the rescued victims be taken to the hospital for checks and treatment.
Aliyu said, “I will hand over the rescued victims to the Commissioner for Health to certify their health status and also make a cash donation of N100,000 each to the victims and bags of assorted grains to assist them to recover from the shock after which they will be reunited with their families.
“Let me also use this opportunity to call on the people of the state to continue to give adequate information to security agents about the movement of these bad elements.”
The governor commended the Nigerian Army for the rescue of the victims, pledging his administration’s support for the military.
