Contrary to reports that the Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Examination Council (NECO), Godswill Obioma was killed on Monday, his son, Prince Godswill Obioma II, has said the report is untrue.
Reports had surfaced that gunmen suspected to be assassins killed the NECO registrar on Monday night when they stormed his residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.
His widow, Elizabeth Obioma, reportedly told journalists that the assailants killed her husband and left without taking anything.

“The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” she was quoted as saying.
However, in a statement issued on behalf of the family on Tuesday, Obioma jnr. stated that the 67-year-old Professor of Mathematics Education and Evaluation died after a brief illness.

In a similar development, the National Examinations Council (NECO) has issued a statement confirming the death of the Registrar.

The council in a statement signed by the Director, Human Resource Management, Mustapha Abdul, said the Registrar died after a brief illness.
