Eko Hot Blog reports that the lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency, Wale Raji, has thanked voters for reelecting him.
Raji won a historic third term to return to the lower legislative chamber in Abuja on Saturday.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog and other media houses on Sunday, Raji said he’s ready and prepared to do even much more than he did before for his constituents.
He described his landslide victory as a vote of confidence in his performance over the last eight years.
“First and foremost, we want to thank almighty God for today. We thank the good people of Epe Federal Constituency for the third time, they have voted me in and they have spoken louder than ever before,” the federal lawmaker said.
“It’s to me an approval of our performance. It is a vote of confidence in the quality of our representation. I thank them, I appreciate them. I also thank the leadership of my party that has given me this platform to represent Epe Federal Constituency. I appreciate the opportunity.
“Members of our party, men and women, young and old, that have stood behind us since we started this journey, I appreciate you.
“I appreciate members of my family; my wife, my children for the sacrifices they’ve made in the last many months. I’ve practically not been at home; I appreciate them, I thank them for their moral and financial support.
“And to the entire people of Epe, the traditional rulers, market women and men, religious leaders, I say a big thank you to all of you.
“This mandate unprecedented. It is historic. It has never happened that a person would be elected twice and thrice to represent Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. I so much appreciate you all and I’m not taking the mandate or support for granted.
“Now, during the current term, we have facilitated a number of impactful projects in the federal constituency. We have enhanced socioeconomic development of my constituency. This mandate today would serve as energised for me to do more because to whom much is given, much is expected.
“The people of Epe federal constituency have given much and I’m ready and prepared to give them as much as I can give. I promise the people of that they have seen nothing. More things will happen.
“Ayetoro market will be completed. Schools that we promised will be completed and start operation.”
Meanwhile, there was an euphoric moment in Ward A1, Marine Police Station, Aiyetoro Epe Local Government as Raji was declared the winner of his race.
Women in the area could not contain their joy as they chanted and sang a eulogy to the reelected lawmaker.
