According to him, Makinde, being the only governor on the platform of the PDP in the South West is the best person that should lead the party going by the norms and traditions.
“By convention and practices, Makinde is the only PDP governor in the South West and should emerge as leader of the zone.
“No loyal and committed member of the PDP family should challenge the noble arrangement in the overall interest of the party except for selfish interest.
“Aside convention and practices, Makinde brings on board decency, finesse, humility and decorum; he cares and loves his fellow party men.
“He is educated, deep and exposed, he has lots of experience and was a core professional before coming into power; we can gain a lot from him,” Oke said.
The lawmaker cautioned party members and leaders against interference in the zonal leadership, saying that anybody grandstanding was on his own as the party is greater than anybody.
Oke, who represents, Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun, urged leaders from the zone to support Makinde’s leadership for progress and unity of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The lawmaker, also the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, said that there had been controversies on who should lead the party in the Zone.
According to Oke, the party does not need such distractions at this time.
