Southampton Appoint Ivan Juric As New Manager
Southampton have named Ivan Juric as their new manager on an 18-month contract, replacing Russell Martin, who was dismissed last week following a heavy 5-0 defeat to Tottenham.
The 49-year-old Croatian, previously at Roma, was sacked in November after just 12 matches in charge. Despite his short tenure in Rome, Juric brings a wealth of experience from Italian football.

“I’m very pleased. It’s a really big challenge, but I’m optimistic because I see a team that can perform better,” Juric said. “It’s crucial to quickly connect with the fans. I want an aggressive team, and I believe Southampton supporters will appreciate that.”
The appointment marks Juric’s first managerial role outside Italy. His contract reportedly includes a summer break clause, offering flexibility for both parties.
Juric started his coaching career at Mantova in 2014 and later managed Crotone, Genoa, and Hellas Verona. Prior to joining Roma, he built a strong reputation at Torino, leading them to three mid-table finishes in Serie A and earning praise for organizing defensively resilient teams.

Sources within the club revealed that Juric had been a contender to replace Ralph Hasenhüttl in 2022 before Nathan Jones was ultimately hired. The club now hopes Juric will instil discipline and stability following their struggles, particularly after the heavy loss to Spurs.
The Croatian is not expected to be on the touchline for Sunday’s match against Fulham, with his debut set for Boxing Day at home against West Ham.
Southampton currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League, nine points adrift of safety, having secured just one victory all season.
