Sowore Barred from Leaving Nigeria by Immigration Over Watchlist Travel Ban

Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has revealed that the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has barred him from leaving the country, citing his inclusion on their watchlist.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sowore made this disclosure in a statement and video shared on his X account on Friday.

He expressed frustration, stating that he was being subjected to ongoing harassment and a violation of his rights.

“The Nigerian Immigration Service (#nigimmigration) continues to subject me to unwarranted harassment and abuse, repeatedly violating my rights,” he wrote. “Today, once again, they stopped me on my way out of Nigeria, claiming I am on their WATCHLIST!”

The accompanying video shows Sowore questioning an Immigration Service officer and requesting to speak with a superior officer.
