Sowore Calls Out Buhari For Legacy Of Massacres

2019 Presidential Candidate and highly controversial activist, Omoyele Sowore has called out President Muhammadu Buhari for his direct involvement in a number of massacres in the country since assumption of office in 2015, Eko Hot Blog reports.

Sowore, who aired his view via his verified Twitter handle made a long list of massacres which he attributed to the failure in the President’s leadership.

The SaharaReporters publisher also called for Buhari’s resignation.

“@MBuhari

is responsible directly for these massacres: #shiitesmassacre, #ipobMassacre, #LekkiMassacre, #ZabarmariMassacre #RevolutionNow #BuhariMustGo” Sowore wrote on Twitter.

The Nigerian state has not been shy of massacres in recent memory, notably the alleged killing of a yet to be ascertained number of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020, a tragedy largely blamed on Buhari’s government for giving the authorization for the Nigerian Army to engage peaceful and unarmed protesters with live bullets.

More recently, the slaughter of 43 rice farmers at Zabarmari village has further posed question marks on the Buhari led government, particularly with regard to the competence of his service chiefs and security apparatuses in tackling the rising tide of insurgency and banditry in Northern Nigeria.

Sowore, who has for a long time sought to overrun Buhari’s government with waves of protests under the aegis of the Coalition for Revolution (CORE), has now cited several massacres within the last few years and blaming these unfortunate events on the unwillingness or inability of Buhari’s government to protect the lives and properties of Nigerian citizens
