Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Parastatals Monitoring Office, PMO, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo has tasked heads of the various agencies of the State Government to redesign their agencies’ activities in a way that would aid the realisation of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.

Ayantayo addressed the Heads of Agencies during an inaugural meeting in Alausa, Ikeja, advising them to identify the areas related to their MDAs in the six pillars enunciated by the Governor to deliver a Greater Lagos to Lagosians.

“The Sanwo-Olu administration has set for itself a workable paradigm for efficient performance by all organs of government under the acronym T.H.E.M.E.S which stands for Transportation and Traffic Management, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism, Security and Governance”, he stated.

Describing the Governor’s agenda as all-encompassing, the Special Adviser disclosed that the decision of the present administration to resuscitate PMO was to ensure that all Agencies of government are optimally administered and run in accordance with the vision of the government.

He said, “Your parastatal is expected to fall under one of the letters of the acronym. For example, LASTMA falls under Transportation and Traffic Management, LSACA and LAWMA fall under Health and Environment while Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency and Lagos State Security Trust Fund both fall under Security and Governance, and so forth”.

The Special Adviser urged participants at the meeting to also utilise another acronym coined by him, S.A.N.W.O.O.L.U. in the discharge of their duties, saying the acronym stands for Service with commitment and vigour, backing up their service with Action, Network policy with people and technology, practice the game of Win-Win, Organise their organisations, serve to Optimal levels, put Lagos at the centre of all actions at all times and above all seek knowledge and Understanding.

Recall that the Parastatals Monitoring Unit (PMU), was first established in 1984 during the military era to monitor and coordinate the activities of all Parastatal Organisations and Government-owned Companies in Lagos State.

The PMU over the years had, however, metamorphosed into the Parastatal Monitoring Office (PMO). In 1992, there were 19 Parastatal Organisations in the State, but today, there are 100 parastatal organisations.
