EKO HOT BLOG reports that DeVon Franklin has filed for divorce from his wife, Meagan Good, after nine years of marriage.
Turns out, there were rumblings of a possible split before he officially filed the paperwork. More inside…
A breakup right in the thick of the holidays! Ugh.
Hollywood producer/preacher DeVon Franklin has pulled the plug on his nine-year marriage with actress Meagan Good.
According to The Blast, the 43-year-old best-selling author and motivational speaker filed for divorce from his 40-year-old wife and the case was opened on Monday, December 20th, at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, California.
The couple also released a joint statement.
“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected. We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love,” they said.
“We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other,” the pair added.
Meagan & DeVon tied the knot in June 2012 after working on the 2011 film Jumping the Broom. They decided not to have children, so there won’t be any child support battles. Babies were often a hot topic when they did interviews.
The timing of the divorce seems a little sudden being that earlier this month, DeVon was gushing over his wife in a promo post about her new Amazon Prime Video series called “Harlem.” He put the post up on Friday, December 3rd:
”Y’all not ready for this!!! I’m so proud of my love @Meagangood!,” DeVon captioned the trailer. “She’s one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she’s funnier than you may know but I’m so glad you finally get a chance to see her do it all as Camille Parks in the new Amazon show #Harlem @Harlemonprime!! It streams on DEC 3rd on @amazonprimevideo P.S. this will be your new favorite show…sex in the city has nothing on #harlem”
In the comments, Megan replied, “My Loooove .. thank you Heart’ah’smilin. Love you!”
Christmas 2020 they were all smiles during the holidays, pictured above.
On Valentine’s Day this year, the couple was all boo’d up in a hot tub, below:
And they also posted wedding anniversary posts to celebrate 9 years together back in June:
However, by August, things seemingly changed. Fans noticed Megan went to Punta Cana to celebrate her 40th birthday, sans her husband. Maybe she just wanted to celebrate with her girls, but fans noticed he wasn’t around.
Fans have also noticed the Think Link A Man star has been hitting up several events that she posts to her social media and DeVon is no where to be found. He did share her “Harlem” series promo at the top of this month, though, and sang her praises about her acting skills.
They haven’t posted many flicks of each other on their socials in the last few months.
You’ll recall, the couple released a relationship book in 2015 titled, “The Wait.” Meagan & DeVon shared they waited a whole year until they were married to have sex, so they wrote a book together about staying celibate before marriage. Meagan also revealed DeVon was actually celibate 11 years prior to them getting together.
It’s unclear what exactly caused the breakup, but folks are speculating children may have something to do with it.
The “Harlem” actress shared some quotes on her IG Stories hours before the divorce news broke:
We wish them both the best!
