SSANU, NASU Stage Nationwide Protests
Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) staged nationwide protests on Tuesday, July 9.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the protests happened within campuses of public universities to demand the immediate release of their withheld salaries.
NASU national president, Makolo Hassan, had stated on Monday that there would be no backing down on their demonstrations, as both unions claimed the federal government had failed to address their demands following a warning strike some months back.

At Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, non-academic staff members carried placards with various inscriptions as they marched around the campus, urging the federal government to release their withheld salaries and meet their other outstanding demands.
Similarly, at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in Imo state, dissatisfied workers marched around the university community to press for their demands.
The protests came after the expiration of a two-week ultimatum given by NASU and SSANU to the federal government in June.
