Stallion Circle Club Commends FG, Lagos Govt Over Establishment of Federal Medical Centre in Epe
The Stallion Circle Club of Epe has applauded the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government for upgrading the Epe General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government last week officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to transfer Epe General Hospital, which will now serve as the newly established Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Epe.
The agreement was signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the Lagos Trauma Conference 2024 held in Oniru, Victoria Island on Thursday.
Reacting in a press release signed by its President, Alhaji Debo Abdulai, and General Secretary, Alhaji Nuhman Edu, the club noted that the upgrade will provide the residents of Epe Division access to world-class healthcare services, as expected from the newly established FMC.
The club added that the Federal Medical Centre will benefit not only the people of Epe but also neighboring towns such as Ijebu Ode and Ikorodu.
While expressing their appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and Hon. Wale Raji for their efforts in making this project a reality, they particularly noted the inclusion of a School of Nursing and a College for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
“It is worth noting that the accompanying School of Nursing, which begins admission next year, and the Federal College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine to be established in Ilara-Igboye, will provide our sons and daughters with expanded opportunities in various fields, as well as employment prospects,” the statement read.
The Stallion Circle urged the people of Epe to take full advantage of these opportunities and praised Dr. Tunji Alausa, a native of Epe and Minister of State for Health, for using his position to bring this hospital to the community.
The club also encouraged other influential individuals from Epe to support initiatives that enhance the town’s social and economic development.
The club called on the Federal and Lagos State Governments to ensure a smooth transition for the staff of the former Epe General Hospital who may wish to transfer their services to the Federal Government.
The Stallion Circle also used the occasion to draw attention to the ongoing electricity issues in Epe Central, which has been without power for months.
The club warned that the power outage could hinder the expected influx of visitors due to the new opportunities offered by the FMC and urged the government to resolve the situation promptly.
The Stallion Circle Club of Epe is committed to fostering the development and progress of Epe through initiatives that improve the community’s wellbeing, including educational support, economic empowerment, cultural engagement, and healthcare assistance.
