Stolen 9.6m Dollars To Be Given To Delta State Government,Not FG- Group
Following United Kingdom purported plan to return the sum of $9.6m stolen by ex-Delta State governor Chief James Ibori to Nigeria, a group, known as Delta State Society Roundtable on Grand Corruption has said that the state government should be given the money instead of the FG.
The group in a statement through Pastor Innocent Adjenughure said that the people of the state deserved to enjoy the money.
The group said: “The FG has submitted three project proposals to the UK Government which will not benefit Delta State people, and without the knowledge of Delta State people who are the beneficial owners of the said money. We will vehemently resist this injustice as the money belongs to Delta State.
“The said Ibori loot can and should be used for Social Investment Programme as part of Nigeria and UK’s support for the Sustainable Development Goal 16.4 to help the poor of the poorest in Delta State who are the true owners of the money.
“We are happy to work with the Delta State Government to set up a framework to convince the UK Government to use the money for sustainable development projects in Delta State.”

“Adjenughure added: “We are calling on both the UK and the FG to be transparent in the transfer of (seized) Ibori’s assets to Nigeria.”
