Residents of Badagry area in Lagos State on Friday called the attention of authorities to a strange helicopter that had surreptitiously attempted an ‘off-the-radar’ landing in one of its neighbourhoods.
According to a viral video shared by the residents across social media platforms, the pilot of the helicopter, on sighting the approaching myriad of residents, took off with immediate effect.
From the video, the helicopter’s codename was identified as NN313 and further investigation revealed that it is owned by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

It remains unclear why a government-owned helicopter was clandestinely trying to evade detection inside the bush.
It has also been mooted that the NIMASA Aw-109SP could have been on a training mission in the area before it was discovered by locals.
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency is yet to issue an official statement regarding this development as at the time of filing this report.
