Strike: NLC Makes Demands From Tinubu’s Administration [Full List]

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has revealed its demand from President Bola Tinubu-led government.

It would be recalled that the the organised labour unions, on Tuesday, embarked on a nationwide strike over the assault on NLC president Joe Ajaero.

The organised labour directed its affiliates to implement the resolutions of the National Executive Council.

NLC, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), listed its demands from the Federal Government, calling for the arrest of some government personnel.

NLC’s Demands

The statement reads, “1. Arrest and prosecute Mr Chinasa Nwaneri, the S.A. on Special Duties, the deadly gang leader of Hope Uzodinma thugs: He led the attack against workers on that day.

“2. Arrest, prosecute and dismiss all police officers involved in the brutalization of NLC President and workers in Imo state.

“3. Arrest and prosecute all thugs that attacked the NLC President in Imo State.

“4. Arrest, prosecute and dismiss the chief security officer Imo State government House, SP Shaba: He led, participated and provided cover for thugs to brutalize workers in Imo State.

“5. Arrest, prosecute and dismiss the police area commander that led the brutalization of NLC Predident and others workers in Imo State.

“6. Investigate and prosecute the former Imo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Barde.”
