Eko Hot Blog reports that the Imo State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old Imo State University student, Francis Marvellous, for allegedly stabbing a final year Federal University of Technology Owerri student to death.

According to police spokesperson Henry Okoye, the victim, Marvellous Kingsley, was killed on Thursday night following an altercation with the suspect on campus.

Okoye said the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting he stabbed the victim with a knife during a heated argument with FUTO’s Man O’War unit members.

The police recovered the victim’s body which was confirmed dead at FMC Owerri and deposited in a mortuary.

Okoye revealed the suspect would be arraigned after investigations, but dismissed speculation that Kingsley was stabbed by a herdsman.

“The Command is using this medium to dispel the false narratives making the rounds on social media that the victim was stabbed to death by a Hausa Fulani/northern, warning that the misinformation is the handiwork of mischief makers who want to provoke unnecessary intertribal conflict,” he stated.
