EKO HOT BLOG reports that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, reassured Nigerian workers that the government is prepared to review their salaries in an effort to offset the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Akpabio conveyed this assurance during a courtesy visit from the Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, and members of the National Assembly from the State.
He emphasized that the decision to remove fuel subsidy under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was aimed at addressing corruption in the Petroleum sector. Akpabio expressed his belief that this move marked the beginning of the fight against corruption within the system.
Akpabio also highlighted the necessity of removing the fuel subsidy for the country’s survival in the coming years. However, he assured that salaries and wages of workers would be reviewed to ensure that Nigerians receive a living wage.
During the meeting, Akpabio praised the representatives from Ekiti State in the 10th National Assembly, recognizing them as committed and dedicated members of the legislature. He expressed the Senate’s pride in their contributions and acknowledged the potential benefits they can bring not only to Ekiti State but also to the entire nation.
The Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, also took the opportunity to commend the President of the Senate for his achievements during his tenure in the last month.
