Sudan Crisis: New Batch Of Nigerians Return Home

Following the ongoing crisis in Sudan, a new batch of Nigerians have returned home.

According to the reports, 125 evacuees successfully landed from the crisis torn Sudan at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The group, which touched down on Saturday at 12:49 pm, was received by officials from various government agencies, including the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a continued effort to ensure the safe return of Nigerians from war-ridden Sudan, a batch of 125 evacuees has successfully arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, in Abuja.
The group, which touched down on Saturday at 12:49 pm, was received by officials from various government agencies, including the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the National Emergency Management Agency, and the Nigeria in Diaspora Commission.

The Nigerians, who were evacuated from Port Sudan, arrived aboard a Tarco B737-300 aircraft. This latest arrival brings the total number of evacuated Nigerians from Sudan to 2,371, as the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind.
Among those present to receive the evacuees were the aides of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Faruk, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Nasir Gwarzo, the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Habib, and the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
In response to the humanitarian crisis, several universities in Nigeria have pledged their support to assist Nigerian students who were evacuated from war-torn Sudan. Igbinedion University in Okada, Edo State, Summit University in Offa, Kwara State, and American University in The Gambia have expressed their willingness to absorb Nigerian returnee students from Sudan.

Additionally, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured that it will provide the necessary support to facilitate the integration of Nigerian students evacuated from Sudan into the nation’s universities.
JAMB emphasized the importance of following the established conditions, processes, and guidelines to ensure a smooth transition for the students.
The board has requested that the students obtain admission letters from JAMB to avoid any complications regarding their eligibility for the national youth service after graduation.
Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, commended the efforts of JAMB and reiterated the need for adherence to the guidelines set forth to ensure a seamless educational journey for the returning students.
The successful arrival of the 125 Nigerians from Sudan marks another significant step in the government’s commitment to providing support and assistance to its citizens affected by the conflicts in Sudan.
