The 2023 general elections finally unveils itself with stories for Nigerians and from Nigerians.
We look at how politicians view the process as Nigerians have mixed reactions about it.
Nyesom Wike was one name who encountered a difficult process with it, together with his wife, Suzzet Wike.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that as Nigerians headed to the polls today to cast their votes in the highly anticipated 2023 general elections, it was a mixed bag of experiences for voters from different parts of the country.
One notable incident was the difficulty experienced by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his wife, Suzzet Wike, who were unable to cast their votes due to the malfunctioning of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation (BVA) System.

The system failed to recognize Mrs. Wike’s thumbprint or face, despite efforts by the presiding officer, Agatha Abiokun, to rectify the situation.
Speaking to reporters, Governor Wike expressed his disappointment, saying:
“We are highly disappointed. INEC told us they were ready for the election and that BVAS are working. You can see the crowd here, I don’t think that most people will be allowed to vote with the slow working of the BVAS. I have stayed about 25 minutes here and I was told to go and come back that they will rectify the BVAS”.
Meanwhile, in Lagos State, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, expressed his confidence at emerging victorious after today’s votes’ count.
Speaking after casting his vote at Polling Unit 085, Ward 3, Alausa, Ikeja, Tinubu stated that he had worked hard for the election, traversing the country multiple times and attending various town hall meetings and interest groups. He believes that his hard work will be rewarded by the Nigerian people.
Also in Anambra State, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, was able to cast his vote in his hometown of Agulu. Obi, a former Governor of the state, expressed his satisfaction with the voting process, saying:
“I am impressed with the turnout and the peaceful conduct of the election so far. I urge everyone to come out and exercise their civic duty”.
Overall, the 2023 general elections have been largely peaceful and orderly, with voters turning out in large numbers to cast their ballots. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians of its readiness to conduct free, fair, and credible elections.
