Lawyer, Update: Obasanjo, Yoruba Monarchs In Benin Demand Asylum For Igboho
  • DSS stated that its operatives killed two of Igboho’s associates in a gun battle while no fewer than thirteen of his close associates were paraded in Abuja on Thursday evening.

Popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo fondly known as Sunday Igboho, has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja for the release of his aides who were arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at his house in the Soka area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on July 1.

EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the operatives of the DSS invaded the residence of Sunday Igboho around 1am last Thursday.

Though the Yoruba activist had escaped the raid by the security operatives, his house and cars were riddled with bullets while bloodstains splattered over the floors of the residence.

While confirming the raid, the DSS stated that its operatives killed two of Igboho’s associates in a gun battle while no fewer than thirteen of his close associates were paraded in Abuja on Thursday evening.

However, the counsel for the Yoruba Nation agitator, Yomi Aliyu, SAN, disclosed on Thursday (yesterday) that he had filed an action before a Federal High Court in Abuja for the release of the 13 arrested persons.

The lawyer, who failed to disclose the details of the suit, added that the spokesman for the Yoruba Nation agitator, Olayomi Koiki, had issued a statement on Wednesday that the DSS did not allow lawyers to see Igboho’s aides in its custody.

When asked the step he was taking to ensure their release, Aliyu said, “We have filed an action before a Federal High Court in Abuja concerning their bail.  We filed it today.”
