  • Sunday Igboho has sent a message to Yoruba Nation agitators over planned protest in Nigeria.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the embattled Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has urged his supporters (Yoruba Nation agitators) not to parade his mother in public.

The Yoruba secessionist leader, EKOHOTBLOG reports, also urged the Yoruba Nation agitators not to protest in his name “for the time being”.

The directive by Sunday Igboho was made known via a statement by one of his lawyers, Yomi Aliyu.

The lawyer, in a statement issued on Thursday, quoted the Yoruba rights activist as declaring that he has no spokesperson.

Igboho further noted that messages from his former media appointees should be ignored.

The statement read in part, “There is time for everything. Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Igboho Oosa, is desirous of respecting those murdered in his house on that black 1st July, 2021.

“In that wise, he has advised against staging any demonstration or rally in his name for the time being. He will also like people to respect his family by not calling his mum out for anything public. Igboho for now has no authentic mouthpiece anywhere.

“In that wise, people are advised to take anything said by anybody claiming to be from him with a pinch of salt. The exception is the statement by his lead counsel.

“Let’s respect the dead. On no account should anybody attack any public place or security personnel on the pretence of agitating for Yoruba nation!” the Yoruba secessionist leader said.

EKOHOTBLOG recalls that Sunday Igboho, who gained prominence following an ultimatum he issued to criminal herdsmen in the South-West, was arrested alongside his wife on Monday, July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic while attempting to flee to Germany.

Sunday Igboho’s wife, Ropo, was released after the court found out that she had not committed any offence.

On his part, the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator was returned to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

This came after the Beninese court ordered that Sunday Igboho be remanded in a prison facility in the Francophone West African nation while further investigations were carried out on the case against the agitator.

The Yoruba rights activist, who is now seeking asylum in the Benin Republic, is facing allegations bordering on trafficking in arms, inciting violence, and causing disunity in Nigeria.
