Sunday Adeyemo, a Yoruba activist better known as Sunday Igboho, has told the federal government to exclude him from its list of preys and go after Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau and bandits.
Sunday Igboho made this statement on Friday after his “arrest” by the security personnel was foiled.
EKO HOT BLOG earlier reported that the vehicles of the self-styled Yoruba youth leader on Friday were reportedly stopped by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the DSS along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, the self-styled activist was said to be on “his way to see Baba Ayo Adebanjo”, a Yoruba elder and one of the Afenifere leaders in Lagos.
The attempted arrest has been generating a whirlpool of reactions on social media, with Nigerians telling the federal government to face the problem of insecurity.
Sunday Igboho who spoke in a video that has now gone viral said he has returned to his residence in Ibadan.
”Go and ask them to invite Shekau and Gumi first before disturbing me. Let them face the bandits instead,” he told the press after the fierce face-off with the security operatives.
However, Since the video of the attempted arrest went viral, Nigerians on social media have been contributing their opinions especially on a micro-blogging platform, Twitter.
Veteran journalist, Dele Momodu also wrote:
“Why this harassment of CHIEF SUNDAY IGBOHO by agents of a government that knows the whereabouts of bandits who live inside remote forests and won’t go near them but have the temerity and shamelessness to terrorize a man who lives in his own beautiful home in Ibadan city!!!”
Political and social commentator, Kayode Ogundamisi, wrote:
“This guy right now is the least of your problems. Not even a Sunday Igboho Fan. All efforts should be directed inside the Forests occupied by terrorists, the one wrongfully tagged as bandits. Terrorists with enough amo to wage a war against multiple States in Nigeria.”
Reno Omokri also commented:
“The reason Government lost control of the BokoHaram situation is because they killed Mohammed Yusuf, the only man able to call BokoHaram to order. If president Muhammadu Buhari kills Sunday Igboho, who will control his boys? The solution will become worse than the problem!”
