EKO HOT BLOG reports that the embattled Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has reacted to viral claims that he has withdrawn the agitation for the actualization of the Yoruba Nation.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari‘s government had collaborated with security agencies to apprehend Igboho following his stand against the activists of terror Fulani herdsmen in the South-West region of Nigeria.
The activist who had led a confrontation against some of the Fulani groups in the region, demanded independence for the Yoruba race, showing total rejection of the incessant killings and unrest in the South-West by the Fulanis.
The government had attempted to arrest Igboho at his house in Ibadan but failed. He was, however, nabbed in Benin Republic days later while attempting to board a flight for Germany.
Igboho was, however, conditionally released from Cotonou prison on March 7 after spending over two hundred days in detention on the accusation of criminal association.
Reports making the rounds had claimed that Igboho has abandoned the agitation for the Yoruba nation.
Responding to the viral claims, Igboho in a video, said there is no going back on the issue of actualizing the Yoruba nation.
He instead urged Yoruba monarchs and concerned indigene from the region to mobilize and support the agitation for the Oduduwa Republic.
Igboho said: “I, Sunday Adeyemo and all those who are following me on the issue of Yoruba Nation, there is no going back for us.
There are talks around that we have stopped clamouring for the Yoruba nation, but that is not true, it is an unconfirmed rumour. We want the Yoruba Nation, we want to be free from slavery because what God has given us on our land is enough to feed us.
