Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has introduced strict restrictions around the team’s camp as they prepare for their crucial World Cup Qualifying match against Zimbabwe.

These measures are aimed at minimizing distractions and ensuring the players remain focused.

The Nigerian national team arrived in Uyo yesterday after a successful outing in Kigali, where they defeated Rwanda’s Amavubi 2-0 in their fifth match of the qualification series.

The victory has boosted the team’s confidence as they aim to secure another win in the upcoming fixture.

According to a statement released by the Super Eagles’ media officer, Promise Efoghe, today’s training session will be held behind closed doors.

No fans or visitors will be allowed to watch. For the media, only accredited journalists will be permitted to observe the first 15 minutes of the team’s training on Monday, March 24, 2025.

In addition, journalists and other visitors have been prohibited from accessing the players or entering the team’s camp in Uyo.

This restriction is intended to create a calm and focused environment for the players as they prepare for their next challenge. However, arrangements have been made to allow media personnel to interact with the players in a “mixed zone” after the match.

The decision to implement these restrictions reflects Chelle’s determination to keep the players fully concentrated and free from outside pressures. With the World Cup qualification at stake, the coaching staff is focused on ensuring the team is mentally and physically prepared for the upcoming encounter.

The matchday 6 Qualifier against Zimbabwe is scheduled to take place on March 25, 2025, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It is expected to be a critical fixture as Nigeria continues its push to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
