On Wednesday, the 28-year-old shared a photo on social media, smiling widely from his hospital bed with two fingers raised in a peace sign, showing resilience despite the setback. Alongside the picture, he wrote, “In the midst of your struggles, God is your constant companion. He whispers peace into your soul and gives you strength to face another day (Isaiah 26:3). God is the greatest.”

The club confirmed the success of the surgery in a statement shortly after, though no timeline for his return to the field was given.
“Peter Olanjinka was successfully operated on in Finland by a famous doctor after an Achilles tendon injury due to a blow he received during a match in Monaco,” read the release.
“Everything went well, and we are waiting for the postoperative period to pass in order to estimate the return time of Zvezda’s football player. We wish him a speedy recovery and return to the field!”
Olayinka sustained the injury during Red Star’s 5-1 loss to AS Monaco in their UEFA Champions League match on October 22.
A reliable performer for the club, Olayinka has netted 13 goals in 42 appearances since joining in 2023 and has contributed two goals and two assists in six matches this season.
Since his injury, Olayinka has received a wave of support from his Super Eagles teammates, including Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Frank Onyeka, as well as former internationals like Obafemi Martins, Odion Ighalo, and John Ogu.
