EKO HOT BLOG reports that Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for February. The Nigerian striker scored two goals and provided three assists in four appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the month.
Iheanacho scored once and provided two assists in the Foxes’ 4-2 away win against Aston Villa. He also netted once and recorded an assist in Leicester City’s 4-1 home win against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old has scored three times in 18 league appearances for the former Premier League champions this season.
Iheanacho will face stiff competition for the award, as he goes up against Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins and Fulham winger Manor Solomon.
Rashford scored three goals and provided one assist in four league appearances for Manchester United in February. Leno made 18 saves and kept two clean sheets in three games for Fulham, while Alderweireld helped Tottenham keep two clean sheets in four matches.
Watkins scored twice and provided one assist in four league games for Aston Villa, while Solomon scored once and provided two assists in three matches for Fulham.
The winner of the award will be determined by a public vote, with fans able to cast their votes on the Premier League’s official website until March 8. The winner will be announced on March 12.
