The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national women’s football team, have been honored as the National Team of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards held in Morocco.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), accepted the award on behalf of the team. In his acceptance speech, Gusau thanked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the recognition and highlighted the progress and resilience of Nigerian football.

“We are grateful for this award again this year. I was here last year to receive this same award, which demonstrates the development and resilience of Nigerian football,” Gusau said.
He also acknowledged the vital role of the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, in promoting women’s football in Nigeria. “I want to use this moment to appreciate our First Lady back home for her continuous support to the development of women’s football in Nigeria,” he added.
This accolade reflects the Super Falcons’ exceptional performance over the past year, which includes maintaining their dominance as the top-ranked women’s football team in Africa.
The CAF Awards, which celebrate excellence in African football, also featured other Nigerian nominees, highlighting the country’s significant contributions to the sport.
