The governor took to his Twitter page, now known as X, to convey his appreciation on Friday.
Acknowledging the trust and confidence bestowed upon him by the people, Sanwo-Olu stated, “I’m grateful for the Supreme Court’s affirmation of my election as Governor of Lagos State.”
He emphasized that this affirmation validates the collective vision for a greater Lagos, thanking the public for their unwavering support.
“An affirmation that revalidates the trust and confidence our people have placed in our vision for a greater Lagos. Thank you all for your unwavering support.”
The governor stressed his commitment to a government that embraces all, extending invitation to those still undecided to join his “progressive governance” journey, emphasizing their inclusive approach and a rejection of a monopoly of ideas.
“Like I always say, there are no victors and no vanquished. I invite those still on the fence to join our train of progressive governance. We run an inclusive government and do not claim a monopoly of ideas,” he said.
The Lagos governor highlighted the privilege he shares with Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, elected at a crucial moment in the state’s history, expressing optimism for the future, the governor urged continued collaboration in building a Lagos that thrives, progresses, and uplifts every resident.
He shared this sentiment, stating that,
“@drobafemihamzat and I are privileged to have been elected to serve at this auspicious moment in the history of our state, and Let’s continue working together to build a Lagos that thrives, progresses, and uplifts every resident. The journey continues, and our commitment remains steadfast.”
Earlier today, Justice Garba Lawal read the lead judgment of the apex court, dismissing the appeal filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP)
He held that the deputy governor of Lagos, Obafemi Hamzat, was duly qualified to contest the March 18, 2023, governorship election.

The judgment in the appeal filed by Rhodes-Vivour was the first to be delivered at the Supreme Court during its Friday sitting.
The LP candidate had challenged the election victory of Sanwo-Olu, who contested the March 18, 2023, governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is currently in his second term in office.
