Surah Animashaun Receives Award Of Excellence At LASU Center For Museum And African Heritage Event

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State University (LASU) Center for Museum and African Heritage has presented an award of excellence to the Chairman of Epe Local Government (LG), Princess Surah Animashaun.
The centre presented the award on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at an event in commemoration of the International Museum Day, 2024.

The Epe LG chairman, the Guest Speaker, was joined by Associate Professor Sanni Habib Abiodun, the Acting Director, Directorate of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, LASU, Mr. Gbaja Kolawole Patrick, the Museum Curator/Deputy Director, LASUCEMAH, Prof. Animashaun Maruf S., the Director, LASUCEMAH, and a representative of Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor, LASU.

In a statement on Sunday, Animashaun said it was “a great privilege” to join the rest of the world in celebration of the International Museum Day as she was able to “extensively elaborate on the crucial role Museums play in the aspect of cultural exchange and development”.
Addressing the audience, she emphasized the significance of Museums because they serve as dynamic educational hubs that foster curiosity, creativity and critical thinking.
Museums also contribute to research as they provide a reliable and informative platform for exploring and disseminating new days, the Epe LG boss said.
“The Lagos State University Centre for Museums and African Heritage (LASUCEMAH) has impressively played a pivotal role in collection of cultural artefacts that have been fundamentally used for preservation, conservation, exhibition, display, research and documentation with the provision of adequate space and functional facilities and she personally accord them great commendation,” the statement added.
“She conclusively implored the audience the consciously explore the wealth of knowledge Museums have to offer and, together, build a more informed and inclusive world.”
After her address, Animashaun received an award of excellence for her “outstanding contribution” to Lagos State devise learning.
The award was presented to her by the LASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, who was represented at the event.
Meanwhile, the Epe council chairman had the opportunity to sightsee the artefacts that were on display in the museum as she was taken around by the Museum Curator.
