Suspect Charged In Murder of 47-year Social Worker

An 18-Year Old boy, Brandon Jacob Spencer Newman, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Deborah Onwu.
Onwu was stabbed to death on Friday while she was on a job at Wood’s Homes.
The suspect, according to police, remains in custody and is to appear in court on Nov. 1.
Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta said the accused had been living at the facility for several weeks.
“She was providing assisted living care to the suspect,” Schiavetta told reporters Friday afternoon. “This was her place of employment.”
