Suspected Herdsmen Kill Labour Party Chairman in Benue

Sunday Oche, the Labour Party Chairman for Igumale Ward 1 in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, has been killed by suspected armed herdsmen in Igumale.

Reports indicate that Mr. Oche was ambushed and shot dead while returning from his farm with five others, who managed to escape with serious injuries.

A friend of the deceased, speaking anonymously, revealed that the group had gone to their farm in Igumale on Monday. While on their way back around 4:30 p.m., they encountered an ambush set by the armed herdsmen.

“There were six of them returning from the farm on two motorbikes when they were ambushed by armed herdsmen in Ado LGA. The attackers flagged them down and immediately shot the Chairman, who was the first to be confronted. He died on the spot,” the source recounted.

Upon hearing about the attack, local youths mobilized and rushed to the scene, but the assailants had already fled, leaving behind the body of the slain Chairman, who is survived by a wife and two children.
