EKO HOT BLOG reports that the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for 67 days, refusing to cooperate with investigators probing him for alleged financial impropriety.
Bawa according to Punch, has refused to cooperate with investigators from the Department of State Services (DSS) who are probing him for alleged financial impropriety.
Bawa has been in the custody of the DSS since June 14, 2023, and has so far refused to answer any questions from the investigators, or to hire a lawyer to represent him.
The DSS is investigating Bawa on allegations of mismanagement, misappropriation, and diversion of proceeds of assets forfeited to the EFCC.
The agency is also probing Bawa for allegedly collaborating with the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to carry out fraudulent deals with some Bureau De Change operators.
Bawa is yet to be charged to court, but the DSS has obtained an ex parte order to extend his detention in their facility while they continue with their investigation.
