The Statewide Waste & Environmental Education Project (SWEEP), in partnership with the Lagos State Government and other environmental stakeholders, is set to launch a reality television programme that is environment-based.
Disclosing this to Ekohotblog is the President of the SWEEP Foundation, Ambassador Obuesi Phillips at the Lagos Wastes Forum 2020 tagged ‘High-Level Citizens Forum On Wastes Reproduction And Management’ held at the Nigerian Institute Of International Affairs, kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ambassador Obuesi Phillips stated that the proposed reality television show is targeted at creating grassroots environmental awareness mixed with entertainment to educate, enlighten, inspire, and showcase a cleaner Lagos State to the world.
This online news platform understands that the proposed environmental reality show is to be called ‘First Lady Marshals’, an initiative that will engage thousands of Lagosians from across all communities in promoting ecological sustainability, tourism and further support the Lagos State environmental policy.
Also, the students’ waste and environmental education summit will host a collaboration with State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) across the three senatorial districts of Lagos State to engage young people in waste management, the president said.
Phillips added that “if we must achieve the objectives of a cleaner Lagos Initiative, then a concerted effort at introducing the grass-root population to waste and environmental education becomes imperative”.
