BREAKING: Deadly Tanker Explosion In Niger, 30 Dead, 50 Cattle Burned

No fewer than 30 persons and 50 cattle have lost their lives in a tanker explosion that occurred at Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State.

The explosion occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday along the Lapai-Agaie road, about 2 kilometers from Dendo community in Agaie.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident occurred when a petrol tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) collided with a trailer truck that was transporting passengers and cattle from Wudil in Kano State to Lagos.

The explosion had a catastrophic impact, also affecting two other vehicles—a crane truck and a pickup van—that were traveling on the same route.

The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, confirmed the incident and reported that the NSEMA Rapid Response Team had promptly arrived at the scene.

Arah stated that 30 bodies had been recovered from the truck and confirmed dead.

He  added that the team was still at the site, conducting search and rescue operations, as there were additional bodies believed to be trapped inside the vehicles.
