The contract of Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has been terminated following the team’s woeful performance at the ongoing Nations Cup.
Although the Nigerian tactician qualified the Taifa Stars’ for the AFCON for the first in 39 years, their performance was nothing to write home about, losing all three matches against Algeria, Senegal, and even Kenya.
Not just that, they conceded a total of eight goals at the continental tournament, scoring just two goals.
Announcing its decision, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) relieved the former Nigeria international of his job, writing on its website: “The Tanzania Football Association (TFF) and the national team coach, Emmanuel Amunike, have reached a joint agreement to terminate the contract between us.”
With his sack, Amuneke has become the second managerial casualty of the tournament after Egypt sacked Javier Aguirre on Sunday.
