EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been engulfed in another crisis, as David Kente, a former governorship aspirant, has been expelled from the party over alleged anti-party activities.
The State Working Committee led by El-Suldi Ibrahim announced the expulsion, while also suspending Jimkuta David, senator-elect for Taraba South, for similar offences. The committee recommended David’s expulsion from the party to the national secretariat.

Speaking at a press conference in Jalingo, El-Suldi explained that the APC Kente Ward executives had written to the Chairman of the APC Wukari Local Government Area, requesting Kente’s expulsion over several alleged offences committed against the party.
Despite several invitations to defend himself on the allegations, Kente refused to honour them and instead insulted the ward executives. Based on the findings of an investigation, the State Working Committee ratified the decision of the APC Wukari Local Government Area and expelled Kente from the party.
El-Suldi also disclosed that the APC Takum LGA constituted a five-man disciplinary committee that invited Jimkuta David for anti-party activities but he refused to honour the invitation. As a result, David was suspended from the party, and the State Working Committee recommended his expulsion from the party to the National Executive Committee.
However, Kente disputed El-Suldi’s position, claiming that he lacked the powers to act as chairman since he had already been removed by a court order. Kente said that El-Suldi’s actions were only causing confusion in the party in the state and urged the public to disregard anything coming from him and his group.
“We are surprised that El-Suldi, who is a lawyer, is trying to cause confusion in the party in the state. His removal by the Federal High Court has not been challenged. We now have an acting APC Chairman in Taraba, so the public should disregard anything coming from El-Suldi and his cohorts,” Kente said.
