Taraba: Troops Arrest Female Kidnapper’s Informant, Intercept Vehicle with AK-47

Troops of the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspected female informant linked to kidnappers in Taraba State.

The arrest, announced in a statement released early Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital, revealed that the suspect was arrested on September 6, 2024, by the troops in Sondi village, Wukari local government area EKO HOT BLOG gathered.

According to the statement signed by Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, the suspect, identified as Miss Markus Grace, is believed to be the girlfriend of a notorious kidnapper named Chen, who has been terrorizing the area.

“The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation to determine her involvement in various criminal activities,” the statement said.

Items recovered during the operation include an AK-47 rifle and a vehicle.

The troops vowed to rid the state of those making life difficult for its residents, accusing Grace of aiding kidnappers and criminal elements in the region.

In a separate operation, the troops intercepted a suspicious Toyota Yaris vehicle with registration number Taraba KLD 652 XA. The vehicle was found carrying an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and two National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) identity cards.

The operation, which occurred on September 5, 2024, in Bantaje town, involved a routine stop-and-search patrol. The driver of the vehicle fled into nearby bushes upon being stopped, abandoning the vehicle.

A search revealed the illegal weapons and NURTW identity cards belonging to Isa Ibrahim and Mallam Isa Garin Tukura. Investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspects, as well as to determine the involvement of the individuals associated with the identity cards.

The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response. He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information to prevent and combat criminal activities.
