The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has recently announced a planned rationing of power supply in certain areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from January 6 to 20.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the temporary measure is due to the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) ongoing road dualization project along the Apo axis.
According to Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, the project necessitates the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line.
As a result, affected areas such as Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, Apo Mechanic, as well as parts of Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe Chika, and Alaita axis, will experience daily power outages from 9am to 4pm.
TCN apologises for the inconvenience and assures customers that power supply will be restored as soon as the towers relocation and cable stringing are completed.
”This relocation work will necessitate a planned power outage from 6th to 20th Jan from 9am to 4 pm daily, which is the estimated duration for the dismantling and construction of the towers.
“It will also allow for the restringing of the power cables that will enable resumption of bulk power supply to the Apo Transmission Substation from Gwagwalada Substation.
”While the relocation of the transmission towers is a necessity for the road completion project, TCN apologises for the inconvenience this planned power outage will cause,” she said.
